School holiday/holiday care

Kidzone offers an outstanding holiday programme for your child; this would include on-site activities, off-site activities, indoors and out. The holiday programme has different events each day allowing you and your children a flexible, structured and well organised timetable.

Park Lane Centre, Alderman Jacobs Centre and Peckover centre offer a school holiday/holiday service. The Park Lane centre caters for the 8-12 years old, the Alderman Jacobs centre caters for the 2-7 year olds. The activities supplied by the centres are relevant to age, gender, religious, and social in a structured environment. The Park Lane centre operates from 8:00am to 4:00pm, the Alderman Jacobs and Peckover centres operates from 8:00am to 6:00pm

All centres offer breakfast for the children, consisting of a choice of cereals, pancakes or toast with a selection of spreads. At 10:00am a small mid-morning meal usually salad items and bread sticks with dips is available for the children. Lunch is at 12:00pm and unless otherwise stated all children will need to bring a packed lunch. If fizzy drinks are sent in with the children’s lunch please ensure they are in a plastic bottle with a screw cap rather than a can. Pot noodles or other simple hot snacks can be prepared by the staff. At 2:00pm the children can have a midday snack and at 4:00pm we offer light tea meal which may be hot dogs, soup, beans on toast or something the children have suggested they would like. Fruit and drinks are freely available throughout the day.

The children have opportunities to try bouncy castles, trampoline, quad bikes, archery, skiing, tobogganing, sailing, cinema, swimming, theme parks, activity centres, ten pin bowling, safari parks, zoos, and seaside These events are supervised by our own qualified staff or by the activity centre’s qualified instructors providing the activity.

If your child is not the adventurous type Kidzone still offers all the activities available during the term periods.

Before school/breakfast care

Park Lane centre and Alderman Jacobs centre offer a before school/breakfast service.

The service operates from 7:30am to the start of school. A register of the children attending the centres is taken every morning.

Breakfast for the children using this service is between 8:00am and 8:30am. The children have a choice of toast with a selection of spreads, crumpets, muffins, and a selection of different cereals or fruit. To drink the children can choose milk, squashes or water.

We can offer your child various freely chosen activities to enhance their morning session including arts and crafts, large free standing games, snooker, pool, connect four, table tennis, air hockey, an assortment of table top games, and for the less active television, films, various computers and games.

All children in Reception classes are escorted and settled into their classrooms by a member of staff, Year 1 and 2 are escorted to their classrooms by a member of staff.

Children in Year 3 and above can leave Kidzone earlier to play on the playground with their friends but we would need to be informed of this in writing by a parent, stating what time your child is allowed to leave the centre.

Children who attend Sir Harry Smith’s Community College leave Kidzone between 8:05am and 8:15am to walk to school

Children from New Road School are taken to school from the Alderman Jacobs site in Kidzone’s own minibus which is insured, fully seat-belted and fitted with booster seats, by a member of staff.
 
  
 
After school/afternoon care

Park Lane Centre and Alderman Jacobs Centre offer an after school/afternoon service.

The service operates from the finish of school to 6:00pm. A register of the children attending the centres is taken every afternoon.

All children in Reception classes are collected from their classrooms, Year 1 and 2 are collected from pick up points in school by a member of our staff and escorted to Kidzone. The children in year 3 and above can walk to Kidzone unescorted.

At 3:15pm to 3:45pm a light meal is available to the children which include; salads, hot dogs, sandwiches, crumpets, toast with a selection of spreads, beans on toast.

Fruit and drinks are freely available throughout the afternoon.

Weather permitting the children can go outside from 3:45pm until 6:00pm. On both sites we have available hard standing tarmac playgrounds and grass fields at our disposal. The children can organise and play large team games such as dodge ball, football or cricket or explore and develop their understanding of the world.

Inside the children can access the activities listed in the breakfast care plus messy play which could included making something out of junk, painting pictures, modelling with clay, face painting, or creating decorations for local events or various festivals. If a child would prefer to do their own activity we will do our best to accommodate them.

We have a quite area where the children can sit and read a book. They can watch television or put a video on. We have various computer platforms and games which are limited to fifteen minute slots.

At 4:30pm the children have milk and cookies. In addition to the drinks available the children can have milk, tea or hot chocolate.

From 5:00pm-6:00pm the children continue with the activities and play they wish to pursue both indoors and outdoors.
